Cold Case Solved: Robert Atrops arrested,1988 murder case of wife, Deborah Lee Atrops

Police say an arrest has finally been made in the 1988 cold case murder of a young woman from Sherwood with the help of a Cold Case Unit and forensic DNA. In November 1988, Deborah Lee Atrops, 30, was reported missing by her husband, Robert Elmer Atrops, 34. While still married, the couple had separated earlier that year and were living separately. Deborah was living with their 8-month-old daughter. During the evening of November 29, 1988, Robert Atrops picked their child up from the babysitter while Deborah was at a hair appointment in Tigard. Deborah was supposed to pick up her daughter between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m., but Atrops told investigators that she never arrived at the house. Atrops called Deborah's friends and family and asked if they knew where she was, then called the police and reported her missing. The Washington County Sheriff's office took an official missing person report for Deborah on November 30. As part of the investigation, her car was entered into databases.
