Prayer in Preparation for the First Sunday of Advent Heavenly Father, As we approach the First Sunday of Advent, we open our hearts to Your promise of hope. In the growing darkness of the world, kindle within us the light of Your presence. Awaken in us a spirit of watchfulness, that we may recognize Your coming— in the quiet moments, in those in need, and in the stirring of our own hearts. Teach us to wait not with worry, but with trust; not with fear, but with faith. Lord, clear from our lives what keeps us from You. Renew our desire for holiness, and give us the grace to begin again. May this new liturgical year draw us closer to Christ, the One who comes to save and to heal. Bless our homes, our families, and our community as we light the first candle of the Advent wreath. May its flame remind us that even the smallest light pushes back the darkness. Come, Lord Jesus. Prepare us to welcome You with hope-filled hearts. Amen.
