Paulina Lake - August 18, 2014 - Overnight Time Lapse
Paulina Lake, in Newberry Crater National Monument, is one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon. This video starts out with a sunset view of 8,000+ foot Paulina Peak. I started panning the camera after the Milky Way appeared, to keep it in the frame. If you watch closely, you can see a bright meteor flash just before the Milky Way appears, the tree on the left flashing red from my neighbor's campfire, and a small lightning storm at the base of Paulina Peak to the right. The moon rises half way through the night, partially washing out the Milky Way and changing the colors, as thin clouds roll in. I could color correct the moon lit part, but I liked the color changes. The clouds really lit up bright red at sunrise. Near the end of the video, the lake emerged from the shadow of Little Crater. Finally, you can see my small, white boat on the shore at the end.
