🔴 Before concluding the Mass for the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality, Pope Leo XIV recited the Angelus prayer in St. Peter's Square, renewing his appeal for peace: "In recent days, the agreement on the beginning of the peace process has given a spark of hope in the Holy Land. I encourage the parties involved to continue with courage on the path toward a just, lasting peace, respectful of the legitimate aspirations of the Israeli and Palestinian people. Two years of conflict have left death and rubble everywhere, especially in the hearts of those who have brutally lost their children, parents, friends, everything. With the entire Church, I am close to your immense pain. Today, especially to you, the Lord's caress is addressed: the certainty that, even in the blackest darkness, He remains always with us. "Dilexi te" — I have loved you. To God, the only Peace of humanity, we ask that He heal all wounds and help us, with His grace, to accomplish what now seems humanly impossible: to rediscover that the other is not an enemy, but a brother to whom we can look, forgive, and offer the hope of reconciliation. With sorrow, however, I follow the news of the new violent attacks that have hit several cities and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, causing the deaths of innocent people—including children—and leaving countless families without electricity and heating. My heart goes out to the suffering of the population who have lived in anguish and deprivation for years.
