National Police arrest three men with cocaine on the Old Highway to León, Nicaragua.

A successful National Police anti-narcotics operation resulted in the seizure of cocaine, three arrests, and two vehicles seized on the Old Highway to León. The details of this yet another significant blow to organized crime and drug trafficking were released this Friday, July 15, by Chief Commissioner Victoriano Ruiz Urbina, deputy chief of the National Judicial Assistance Directorate. Yesterday, Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., on a public road, kilometer 14.5 of the Old Highway to León, at the entrance to the El Planetario neighborhood, Managua department, the National Police profiled a Chevrolet minibus with license plate CH 17056, driven by Emmanuel Salvador Mendieta Mendieta; and a Nissan pickup truck with license plate GR 4720, driven by Donald Francisco Avilés Ortiz, accompanied by José Manuel Corea Mendoza. A search of the vehicles revealed a green sack containing two rectangular packages in a minibus with license plate CH 17056, and a pickup truck with license plate GR 4720 found three rectangular packages wrapped in green adhesive tape. They contained a white substance. A field test was positive for cocaine, weighing 5 kilos and 539.8 grams. According to police sources, the drug is valued at US$138,475.00 (one hundred thirty-eight thousand, four hundred seventy-five US dollars). National Police Forensic Results A technical police investigation team inspected and photographed the evidence at the scene. Likewise, forensic investigators conducted a chemical forensic analysis, concluding that the results were positive for cocaine. The Scintrex Trace technique (a cocaine particle detector) was also applied to vehicles, clothing, race numbers, and the palms of the imprisoned criminals, all of which were positive for cocaine particles. The drugs and two vehicles were found as evidence, and the three were arrested, one of them with a history of assault against persons.
