This YouTube Setting Is quietly Killing Your Views (Turn It Off Now)

Are your YouTube views dropping even though you’re posting great content? In this video I explain the hidden YouTube setting that many creators don’t even know exists, but which has been seriously affecting view counts, CPMs and audience relevance. If you’re a content creator wondering “why aren’t my videos getting views like before?” you’ll want to watch this. I’m talking about the automatic dubbing feature inside YouTube Studio. On paper it sounds amazing: YouTube spreads your video to multiple languages, tries to globally translate & dub your voice so you can reach a worldwide audience. But the reality is: for many creators this setting is back-firing. Your content starts being shown to people who don’t understand your niche, don’t speak your language, and won’t engage or buy what you’re selling. In this video you’ll learn: What automatic dubbing is (and when YouTube turned it on by default) How this feature may be hurting your channel (drops in views, drops in targeted audience, lower monetisation) How to find and disable the setting inside YouTube Studio (Upload Defaults → Advanced Settings → Automatic Dubbing) Why turning it off may lead to better audience retention, higher CPMs, and more relevant views The one type of channel where you might keep automatic dubbing turned on (spoiler: entertainment / global audience style) If your channel is educational, niche-specific, or you’re selling something (courses / affiliate / your own product) this is especially important. Because you want an audience who understands, values, and buys what you’re offering. Global reach is great but if it’s too broad and irrelevant, it dilutes your channel. 🎯 Why this matters Many creators experience: Sudden drop in views (from thousands or tens of thousands down to much less) Videos getting suggested next to unrelated content in other languages Monetised channels seeing lower CPMs because advertisers prefer targeted audiences By turning off automatic dubbing, you regain control of : Who sees your videos How your channel growth works How your monetisation performs 📌 Heads up This fix only applies for future videos your old uploads won’t be affected by turning off the setting. Also you’re trading off some global reach in favour of better niche-reach. After you’ve done that, monitor your next uploads: look at audience retention, CPMs, views per video and subscriber engagement. You may notice once your content is aligned with the right audience. 👉 If you found this helpful, hit the Like button, subscribe to my channel (Yahaya Dorathy TV) and share your experience in the comments: Did you find this setting turned on?
