Music from Morning Prayer - November 22nd, 2020 (the Feast of Christ the King)
We observed the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, with an assortment of hymns extolling the majesty of our Savior, led by Dr. Ardie Walser. "To Jesus Christ, Our Sovereign King" was set by Fr. Martin Hellriegel to a German melody as a counterpoint to the pretensions of the Third Reich. It was followed by the African-American spiritual "Give Me Jesus" and concluded with "Lead On, O King Eternal". We began and ended the service with organ voluntaries on a theme of gratitude, hearing "We Gather Together" and "Come ye Thankful People, Come".
