October 9 – Thursday of the 27th Week in Ordinary Time - Word of God and Meditation
October 9 – Thursday of the 27th Week in Ordinary Time "Ask, and you will receive." Word of God: Luke 11:5–13 Jesus said to His disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine has arrived from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’ And he answers from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked, and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up to give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs. “So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you would give his son a stone when he asks for bread? Or a snake when he asks for a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” #jesus #prayer #wordofgod #gospel #bible #meditation
