UK Coronavirus deaths pass 50,000 as 595 more deaths are announced

Data from the last 24 hours puts the number of fatalities within a month of testing positive for Covid-19 at 50,365 since the pandemic began – though experts believe the true total is likely to be significantly higher. Another 595 deaths were recorded today, alongside 22,950 new infections, taking the case total to 1,256,725. The UK is the fifth-worst hit country in the world in terms of Covid-19 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
