Surah Al-Fatihah is the first chapter of the Holy Quran and is therefore rightly referred to as "The Opener". It was one of the earliest Revelations to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and many scholars are of the opinion that it was actually the first Surah (Chapter) that was revealed to him in full. Before this, only a few verses from some of the other earlier chapters were revealed. The Surah is in fact a prayer that summarizes our relationship with Allah; it acknowledges that He is our Creator the Most Compassionate the Most Merciful, that He is the undisputed authority in this world and the next, and that we should depend on Him alone for guidance and assistance in this worldly life, all in 7 succint verses.
