FDA Approves Booster Shots, Three Florida Teachers Dead Due to COVID-19
Welcome to “Black News Tonight” hosted by Marc Lamont Hill. Coming up, the Food and Drug Administration has given the green light for a booster shot for people whose immune systems are compromised. According to USA Today, an FDA study of over 18,000 fully vaccinated transplant patients found that relative to the general population, they were 82 times more likely to develop a post-vaccination infection, and 485 times more likely to be hospitalized or die from COVID-19. Also, the pandemic is ravaging the state of Florida, specifically Broward County. Three teachers and a teacher’s assistant have passed away due to COVID-19 complications. Officials said that three of them were unvaccinated. In Texas, Harris County Public Health has issued a mask mandate, as well as the board of the Houston Independent School District, for the 2021-2022 school year. Parents who are against the mandate have said at the Houston school board meeting, they will send their children to school without masks.
