AS WE GATHER I have enjoyed - as a Pastor and member of Zion over the past 17+ years - describing our congregation as a "Neighborhood Church". 100 years ago ... perhaps even 75 years past ... a significant number of us could "walk to worship". However, for at least 50 years, we could be described as "neighborhood" only if the definition of our "neighborhood" was from Horizon City to Santa Teresa and from Las Cruces to Juarez, (Or our "Neighborhood" has a "Diameter" of approximately "50 miles".) "Neighborhood" has long since died as a definition, but ZION has not only lived through the challenges, but almost "thrived!" This is "Thanks" to many Holy Spirit gifts and gifted people, but I would put at the very CENTER, of this spiritual "phenomenon" the LUTHERAN WOMENS' MISSIONARY LEAGUE. The vision, the generosity, the leadership and discipline, the genuine mission spirit and willingness to serve, have made ministry to and with Zion a genuine joy, a source of constant encouragement and a spiritual environment of "Neighborhood!" Thank you LWML for keeping us in Christ a "Neighborhood Church." Bulletin can be found at: https://app.lutheranservicebuilder.co...
