29 November 2020: Mass for the First Sunday of Advent

During the pandemic, Our Lady’s Parish in York is live-streaming Mass on Sunday mornings. All are welcome. Mass begins at 10am, with music and notices streamed from about 9.30am. Advent is a time of waiting; waiting for the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas, and waiting for his return at the end of time. The first advent candle is lit for us by children from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School. Today we start a new year in the Church's liturgical calendar (Lectionary Cycle: Sundays Year B; Weekdays Cycle 1). Having heard Matthew's account of the Gospel over the last year, we will now hear the Gospel according to Mark.
