Puller / Passer Situational BJJ Drill ( Stop or Improve the Guard Pull )

In a recent video I reference a BJJ Drill we call Puller / Passer. This is an active BJJ Drill that can be used to either get better at stopping the Guard Pull or improve someone's ability to Pull Guard successfully. During this Brazilian Jiujitsu drill you'll have a Person A and a Person B. Person A will attempt to pull whatever style of Guard you'd like to focus on. Meanwhile Person B will attempt to block and pass the Guard of Person A. I usually set the timer for 2 minutes per round. Switching roles per round. To win, the person pulling will have to either secure their Guard position or you can set the rules so they have to sweep or submit off of the pull. The person defending will have to block the person from sucking them into the guard position and/or pass right off the guard pull. In my ebook I have on my website I talk about Active Drills and that is what this BJJ Drill is. It's basically taking a BJJ technique most of us know ( the guard pull). And placing it under live conditions which makes it more difficult and builds up the technique's effectiveness. With Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, in many cases, we know what to do. The tricky part is being able to execute the things we need to do under live conditions against similarly skilled opponent's. Using various active drills like the Puller / Passer drill ensure that we can bridge the gap from learning a BJJ technique to being able to actually use it during rolling or competitions. This type of training is one of the cornerstones of my Brazilian Jiujitsu training. So if you're looking for a BJJ drill to do before full rolling or to focus solely on the Guard Pulling situation. Then give this BJJ drill a try!
