Programme Luna Piano Duo: pianists Amy Butler & Graziana Presicce Ralph Vaughan Williams - Fantasia on Greensleeves Eduardo Burnay - Fado Burnay Sérgio Azevedo - Promenades (selection) Edwin York Bowen - Four Pieces, Op. 90 Talk by Dr David Blackmore Frederick Viner - Fado Fantasy (*world premiere*) by the Luna Piano Duo Vibrant Portuguese and British music performed by the Luna Piano Duo (Graziana Presicce & Amy Butler), including Vaughan Williams's exquisite Fantasia on Greensleeves and the world premiere of a thrilling new Fado Fantasy by award-winning composer Frederick Viner. Acclaimed historian and re-enactor Dr David Blackmore appeared in historical costume to give an entertaining short talk about the British in Portugal during the Napoleonic Wars. This evening marked the 650th anniversary of the extraordinary Anglo-Portuguese Alliance – the oldest continuous alliance in history.
