Level Up Your Salads! Flavorful Homemade Croutons in Minutes
Croutons These delicious crunchy croutons are the perfect topper to any salad! Homemade is much, much better than store bought croutons. This recipe is so simple that you’ll keep wanting to make them yourself! Ingredients: ½ a loaf of bread of your choice (eg. sourdough, italian, french, multigrain, etc.) 1 ½ tsp dried oregano 1 tsp dried basil 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp salt 4-6 tbsp olive oil (more or less depending on your preference) Cut bread into cubes. Set aside in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix spices together; oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Set aside. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil over bread cubes in the bowl. Stir to coat cubes with the oil. Add more oil on top of the stirred cubes to ensure they are coated in oil if needed. Next, sprinkle spice mix over cubes and stir to coat cubes with the spices. Add more if needed and stir again. Add some of the prepared bread cubes to the air fryer. Spread to make one layer of cubes. Set the timer on the air fryer to 7 minutes. Check after 3-4 minutes and stir to ensure the bread cubes will be evenly cooked. Check again at 7 minutes. Remove from the air fryer tray if you think your croutons are ready or add more time if you think they need it. (In my air fryer, I needed to do 10 minutes. This may also depend on the type of bread you choose to use and how crispy you like your croutons to be.) Note: I cooked the croutons in 2 batches so that I could watch that the bread cubes cook evenly. Allow to cool and if not using immediately, store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
