Good morning and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our readings today show the human side of our nature in that we hear about the complainng and murmuring that goes on with Elijah in the First Reading and the people in the Gospel. Elijah is worn down and complains to the Lord that he has had enough. An angel is sent to fortify him and he is able to go forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mountain of the Lord. In our Gospel, the people are too familiar with Jesus and do not see the divinity that is about him. All they see is the boy who was raised among them. Jesus reminds us that he is the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever. Our Psalm reminds us to reflect upon the great gift that has been given to us and "Taste and see that the Lord is good." Together let us magnify the Lord and exalt his holy name.
