School Bus Wreck Injures 15 Students
A school bus wreck Thursday morning in Henderson County sends 15 Dana Elementary School children to two area hospitals. School bus 191 wrecked just after 7:30 Thursday morning, injuring 15 students. Troopers on scene tell News 13 the bus driver was traveling down Deep Gap Road, when he ran off the right side of the road, hit a culvert and the bus came to rest on its left side in a ditch. No other vehicles were involved. Troopers say 15 students were transported to two area hospitals, all with minor injuries. Nine students were taken to Pardee Hospital and six to Park Ridge Hospital. By Thursday afternoon, 14 out of the 15 students had been released from the hospital. One is undergoing further evaluation. The driver was not hurt. There were a total of 34 students on the bus, and all were pretty shaken up. Captain Tim Griffin with Dana Fire and Rescue says, "they were pretty scared but they were again, they were orderly. Just typical, it's an elementary school bus so obviously kids are gonna be pretty scared, but all the rescue workers and the bystanders and some school personnel came here as well.
