
K-pop singers become Korean language teachers… Spreading to 30 cities / SBS 8 News
〈Anchor〉 These days, thanks to the popularity of K-pop, the number of foreigners trying to learn Korean has increased. To help them learn Korean more easily, a playbook featuring K-pop singers as teachers has been released. This is reporter Sim Woo-seop. 〈Reporter〉 In downtown London, where Korean food is booming in popularity. Employees hand out palm-sized playbooks to waiting customers and those who have finished their meals. It contains information about Korean food and tourist attractions in Seoul that young people like in Korean and English. [Christian/Office Worker: It’s not just a guidebook; it has a variety of interesting topics, including visual information.] The booklet is also distributed for free to Korean-style instant photo studios. Many of the customers are already familiar with K-pop. They also solve crossword puzzles based on Korean culture. [Sara/Student: Hello, I love you. Korean food, fun places, and my favorite KARD are included.] Following the first episode with the group KARD, hip-hop idol Youngpa will be the Korean language guide in the second episode. Each member will recommend tourist attractions and teach Korean through videos. [Jianna/Youngpa member: It’s a platform that can promote us and Korea.] [Seonhye/Youngpa member: I’m so grateful that overseas fans speak to me fluently in Korean like this.] The playbook will be distributed to 30 cities in the US, Europe, and Japan as soon as it’s produced.
