If you're trying to score permits for Half Dome in Yosemite National Park this season, you've come to the right place. This is what our experience looked like. 18 miles, 5,300 feet elevation gain, and awesome views of Yosemite Valley. We went up the John Muir Trail, seeing Nevada Falls and Liberty Cap up close. On the way down, we took the Mist Trail to see Vernal Falls. The highlight, obviously, is Half Dome itself. Don't underestimate this famous hike, especially the cable section.
