Our time in Raccoon City allows us a brief trip to some familiar territory from this game's sequel (which is numbered as a prequel) but also introduces a new enemy who doesn't seem to care for us very much. It was released on PlayStation in 1999 with ports to Microsoft Windows and Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and Nintendo GameCube in 2003. A remake of RE3 was released in 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and in 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The franchise has spawned fourteen "mainline" games as well as fifteen spinoffs. Outside of games, Resident Evil has been adapted into seven feature films, animated films and series, a live-action series, novels, comics and even plays. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis takes place one day prior to Resident Evil 2. As Raccoon City descends into chaos as a result of the T-virus outbreak, Jill Valentine must escape the city before being killed by zombies or outbreak containment measures. However, a more deadly threat lies in wait for members of the STARS team.
