9/29/2024 morning worship service Pastor Anthony Fields " "Hide–N–Seek" We've all played the popular game Hide-and-Seek in many variations. The Bible also has many instances of hiding and seeking. Either someone is hiding from God and He is seeking that someone or God Himself is hiding His face and someone is seeking Him. Today, let's check in to this game and see how we all end up as players. ▪︎ When and Where it Began Genesis 3 ▪︎ Seeking to Find and See Exodus 20:18-19 ▪︎ God Hides His Face Ezekiel 3:11, 18-20, 21-23 ▪︎ The Importance of Seeking We have been hiding from the Truth too long. We are reminded that God knows what we need first of all. Matthew 6:33 .....'His kingdom and His Righteousness Isaiah 55:6...."Seek while He 'CAN' be found" ▪︎ God Leads us in the Game He knows how it is played. He promises to play by the rules Exodus 29:39 God hides His face while we live apart from His will but when we repent".... How shall we play this game? Psalm 27 Let us consider again...... "Seek the Lord while he may be found; Call upon him while he is near." " _______________________ "Lord, we thank you for the cloud of witnesses who remind us that loving you is a perpetual call to active duty. Grant us both passion and courage to answer the call to peace and justice, no matter where it might lead us. Amen." _________________________ Think on This: "Conviction VS Accusation" Romans 8:1-"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Galatians 4:16 - "Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? "When the [Holy Spirit] God convicts you -- not of you, but of sin and your calling to live into who you really are. So, when God convicts us, it's of our actions, not of our personal value or worth to Him.' When the accuser accuses us, he takes our actions and then says that they are what determine our value and worth." 1. What does it mean to you that there is "no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus"? 2. How does understanding the full Gospel change the way we live our daily lives? 3. In what ways have you experienced the freedom from the power of sin in your own life? 4.How can we, as the church, better listen to God's voice in our current society?" _____________________ "How will they remember you? Will they miss you when you are gone?" Proverbs 10 How will others remember us when we are no longer alive on this earth? This question may seem unimportant, but we are choosing how others will remember us by the way we live today. •How do you want to be remembered when you're gone? Take some time to think about your legacy and what you hope it will be.' When we live a life focused on the Lord, instead of ourselves, we discover how much He loves us and we can reflect that love toward others. How is the way you're living today affecting the legacy you want lo have one day? ls there anyithing you need to start doing or stop doing to get there? If you want to know if you're living for yourself, consider the following: Am I bringing joy to those closest to me or causing them to worry? Are the things I say helpful or harmful to others? Can others frust me to do what I say will do?"
