Gartan Mother's Lullaby: open tuning DGDGAD
Thanks to Bill Brennan, who I took lessons with briefly back in the nineties. This piece is from his book "Irish & Scottish airs & ballads for acoustic guitar". It doesn't bear much resemblance to the other versions that I've just been listening to on YouTube but it's fun to play anyway, not at all difficult for the left hand, the right hand harmonics are all open except once where the bar on the seventh fret means that they are plucked in exactly the same place as the open ones. The only real difficulty is consistently hitting those harmonics, which I failed to do on several occasions!
