Today on Arizona Horizon: Medicaid cuts seem inevitable and could affect 2.1 million people in our state. In Arizona, we have a “trigger law,” meaning that if federal funding falls below 80%, it could remove coverage under the expansion plan for thousands. That could cause enrollment freezes, cuts to benefits, lower reimbursements and more. Ann-Marie Alameddin, President and CEO of Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, will join us to discuss. Also, analysis of police data by "The Arizona Republic" found Phoenix police pointed their guns at people more than 19,500 times between January 2021 and November 2024. At least 1,591 of those times, the person on the other end was a minor between 2 and 17 years old. Sahana Jayaraman, Investigative Data Reporter at "The Arizona Republic" and azcentral.com, will provide details. Lastly, Randolph, Arizona, a community rich in culture and historic significance, is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. Established in 1925, Randolph remains the oldest remaining historically Black community in Arizona associated with the Great Migration of the early to mid-20th century. Anthony Moore of the Randolph United Council will tell us more. All this and more on Arizona Horizon!
