How well do drones really avoid obstacles?

We tested the obstacle avoidance systems of the ‪@DJI‬ Mini 3, Mavic 3 Enterprise, and Matrice 350 against different gauges of wires, and the results were eye-opening. The DJI Mini 3 struggled with thin wires but managed larger objects well. The Mavic 3 Enterprise stood out by consistently detecting the thickest wire from the front and rear, (although the rear sensor did struggle to detect the thinner wire), making it the top performer in our tests. Surprisingly, the Matrice 350, despite its infrared sensors and higher price tag, had difficulty detecting the wires at all, which was a bit disappointing. If you’re doing low-altitude work like power-line inspections, the Mavic 3 Enterprise is your best bet.
