Restoration adventure! Moore and wright tool box enter the rabbit hole.

Restoring , recycling , upcycling or whatever you like to call it this is my Hobby i hope you enjoy watching Restoration adventure tool box restoration wthout removing character Moore and wright brand made around the 1950s era! others to look out for are Neslein i'm sure there are a few others as the design became very popular with engineering tool makers Machinists when starting thier apprenticesh. I bought this lovely oak tool box from an online auction complete albeit a little battered ! first after removing all the fittings i decided to strip a thick layer of varnish that had been applied we managed to do this with out removing the original character ! After removing the drawer bases i cleaned the original lining . the felt on the slide out door was also saved by attaching it to fresh black felt it was then stuck down with spray adhesive. Paint stripper made short work of the thick coloured varnish we then set about gently sanding the stripped surface with a fine mesh sanding sheet. Several coats of Bees wax polish was applied with fine wire wool before a final polish. I decided to store my collection of vintage wood graining tools in the box timestamps 00:00 intro Old Tool box restored without removing the character! 00:23 removing the metal parts 01:26 whats the plan ! 02:39 removing the drawer bases for cleaning 04:24 sanding and stripping the varnish with paint stripper 05:28 neutralizing the paint stripper 06:00 preparing and sanding the wood before waxing 06:56 i apply beeswax polish 07:52 cleaning the metal parts 08:24 key for the lock 08:49 whats going in the box after restoration? 09:48 cleaning off the stripper from the metal parts 11:19 buffing the metal corners with buffing wheel 11:54 replace the broken handle 13:45 repairing the felt on the slide out door 15:18 final wax and re assemble the knobs and metal parts 15:44 finding hidden secret 17:3 8mm film transfer canon hg 25 19:03 the finished box and a wood graining demonstration 20:19 my next project and thanks for watching folks
