Finally! Castlevania on the SEGA Master System (Demo 0.1 Showcase)
The unthinkable has finally happened! The 1986 NES absolute classic, Castlevania, has been ported over to the SEGA Master System thanks to the incredible work of developer xfixium and his team (Mondo on art and Louis The Sega Nerd on sound). In this video, we take a deep dive into the newly released Demo Version 0.1, explore the levels, and see exactly how SEGA's 8-bit hardware handles the legendary Belmont adventure against Dracula's forces. 🎮 What Makes This Port So Special? Original vs. Enhanced Mode: The game lets you toggle between the classic NES style and an enhanced visual mode heavily inspired by Castlevania Chronicles (Sharp X68000), pushing the Master System's color palette to its absolute absolute limits! Reworked Soundtrack: Classic tracks like Vampire Killer have been brilliantly adapted to take full advantage of the SEGA PSG sound chip. Faithful Gameplay: Controls feel tight, incredibly responsive, and map perfectly to SEGA's classic two-button controller. If you grew up as a Sega kid wishing you could play Konami’s masterpieces on your Master System, justice has finally been served in the form of homebrew! 📥 Useful Links & Credits: 🔹 Follow the project and download the ROM on the SMS Power forum:https://cdromance.org/sms_roms/castle... 🔹 Developer's Channel (xfixium) https://github.com/xfixium ⏱️ Video Chapters : 0:00 - Introduction: A History Corrected! 1:15 - Main Menu & Visual Modes (NES vs. Enhanced) 2:45 - Gameplay Showcase: Controlling Belmont on SEGA 5:20 - Audio Analysis (The Power of the PSG Chip) 7:00 - Current State of the Project (Bugs & What's Next) 8:30 - Final Thoughts: Is this the definitive 8-bit version? #RetroGaming #Castlevania #SegaMasterSystem #Homebrew #RomHack #Konami #8Bit #Sega #NES #VampireKiller
