"Joy To The World" in Seven Modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian)

"Joy To The World" in Seven Modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian)

The first line of "Joy To The World" ("joy to the world, the lord has come" descends all of the notes of the major scale making it a good candidate for this idea of comparing/contrasting one line in all seven modes of the major scale (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, & Locrian.) This video uses: C Ionian (aka major scale) C, D, E, F, G, A, B C Dorian --- C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb C Phrygian --- C, Db, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb C Lydian --- C, D, E, F#, G, A, B C Mixolydian --- C, D, E, F, G, A, Bb C Aeolian (aka natural minor scale) --- C, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb C Locrian --- C, Db, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb Related Note: Doing this project made me want to do an entire Christmas album in Locrian. As always I welcome feedback/suggestions. Leave 'em in the comments. LIKE / SUBSCRIBE. Thanks.
