Mass - Wednesday 29 September 2021 (Archangels)
Mass from St Columbkille's Catholic Church, Corrimal with Fr Richard Healey 29 September – Feast of Ss Michael, Gabriel and Raphael ARCHANGELS / The cult of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael began in the East. In the West, this day first marked the dedication of a fifth century church of Saint Michael in Rome. This festival of Michaelmas came to be very popular and widely celebrated in medieval Europe. Raphael and Gabriel were added to the Roman calendar in the twentieth century, and since 1970 the three are celebrated together. In the Scriptures (for example, Revelation 12: 7-9, Luke 1: 26-38, Tobit 3: 16-25), each of the three angels is named as a messenger of God, entrusted with special divine missions on earth. Each points us beyond themselves to God. 03:31 First Reading [Option 1] ‡ Daniel 7:9-10.13-14 Countless thousands ministered to him. 04:46 Responsorial ‡ Psalm 137:1-5 In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises Lord. 06:21 Gospel ‡ John 1:47-51 Above the Son of Man you will see the angels of God ascending and descending. 07:30 Homily --- Please like and subscribe to the channel: it really helps!
