Excessive rabies regulations with Dr. Richard Schultz and Dr. Karen Becker 2011

While some dogs can achieve lifetime immunity with one rabies vaccination using the current world titer standard of 0.5 IU/ml, there are still municipalilties and counties imposing yearly or biannual revaccination for rabies. This ignores the sciene done by the manufacturers themselves. The Rabies Challenge fund had one animal withstand a direct challenge who did not have a measureable titer. Vaccination assessment with titers could facililtate the continued research. In the meantime it makes absolutely no sense to disallow titers when there are some dogs that don't become immunized. At minimum, every municipalitey should be following the current schedule. Pet owners need a choice to stay compliant and practice optimal immunization.
