“So the people stood at a distance, but Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.” – Exodus 20:21 (LSB) The mountain shook, the people trembled, and a distance formed. The people stayed back—but Moses stepped in. Into the cloud. Into the unknown. Into the presence of God. The "thick darkness" wasn’t absence. It was awe. It was the overwhelming glory of God that invites us not just to hear His words but to dwell in His presence. God’s goal was never just law—it was always intimacy. To form a people who don’t stand at a distance but walk closely with Him. A people not just of His promises, but of His presence.
