On one hand, it’s one beautiful piece of engineering, showcasing what Apple is capable of when it doubles down on its minimalistic design philosophy. It can also serve as a status symbol to communicate that one can comfortably afford a phone that is more expensive while being less capable for the sake of aesthetics. And what it might be is a preparation for the much-rumored iPhone foldable, or the AR glasses, perhaps. But what this is for me, as its name suggests, is a Version 1.0 of a new phone category. There’s an adage in the tech community: Wait for Version 2 at least. The first version is almost always a glorified beta release, a prettified prototype. This iPhone Air, much like the first MacBook Air in 2008, is probably the basis of the future “base” iPhones. Apple just has to start somewhere. But I gotta admit, holding one now, with how light and thin it is, is enough to get me cautiously excited for what smartphones would look like in the years ahead. Pasting my thoughts on the AirPods Pro 3 & Apple Watch 11 from the 17 Pro unboxing here: “Despite the iPhones being the main characters, it’s the AirPods Pro 3 that I was excited about the most. Whether it sounds better is up for debate (IMO the APP2 sounds more well-rounded), but its Active Noise Cancellation is definitely better. Funny story, I thought the unit that I got was defective because of the whistling sound the right AirPod was making. Turns out my right ear was just congested! The whistling stopped after I had my ears professionally “declogged” by an ENT haha. Now, I have to admit, I got the Apple Watch Series 11 mostly because it’s part of the Apple Trio (iPhone, AirPods, Watch); traditionally, our iPhone unboxing videos always include all three of them. And so for the first time, we got the base, non-cellular variant this year. It won’t replace my Titanium Series 10, and I’m most probably gonna sell it after. We’ll see. Timepieces are fashion accessories as well, so I tend to upgrade only when the new one has a different (and presumably better-looking) design.” Once again, thank you guys for watching!
