It is a 'reimagining': of the series developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the sequel to 2009's Wolfenstein and utilizes id Software's proprietary game engine id Tech 5. The PC version of the game requires a Steam account and the program to play. It is described as a 're-imagining' as it takes elements from multiple games in the series (both the originals and the newer games), but interprets them in a different way. In one way is that it sets it in an alternate universe where the Nazis won the war, instead of losing to the Allies. It also reimagines/reinterprets the characterization of B.J. Blazkowicz (changing his background and even accent). Unlike previous games, it does not have a multiplayer component.
