“Let Jesus Turn Your Water into Wine”
"The story about Jesus turning water into wine is a truth in 4 parts: 1) God is powerful enough to do absolutely anything. 2) God loves us enough to do absolutely anything for us. 3) God wants us to trust in his boundless power and endless love. 4) God wants you to have more than an ordinary life; God wants to turn your water into wine!" This sermon was livestreamed on Sunday, January 23rd 2022 and was based on Isaiah 62.1-5, Psalm 36.5-10, 1 Corinthians 12.1-11, and John 2:1-11. On April 7th 2024 we gathered as the people of Salem Lutheran Church for our last public worship service in Bridgeport, CT. A week later the members of Salem said goodbye to the physical building and legal church entity that was "Salem Lutheran Church." Although we no longer meet in person as a congregation, the Salem family will never truly be parted from each other. We as Christians know that "the church" is more than a building: it's a people; and although God brought us an ending, He brings us new beginnings every morning. Our life as a congregation was and is centered in the good news that in Jesus the Christ God has loved, forgiven, and reconciled humankind which is estranged by sin from each another and from God. We believe now and always that Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness in a world of alienation and brokenness. As disciples of Christ seeking justice and reconciliation between peoples, we at Salem welcome, without exception, all people regardless of sex, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical-mental ability or disability, age or station in life. This Youtube channel is both our way of archiving our services, as well as our way to continue to spread the joy and love of Christ as Salem Lutheran Church. We hope these messages uplift and inspire you. Go in peace!
