1990 08/15 Bos 2 at Oak 6 10 McGwire Grand Slam WE Were THERE

My Mom, Brother and I were actually AT this game with my cousins Wendy and Mark Koen!! We were sitting in the Centre Field Bleachers! After one out in the 10th inning, I looked at my scorecard and thought, if the next two guys get on, McGwire could hit a Grand Slam, I hoped... I don't think I said anything out loud though, because it felt silly to say anything about that. Well, the next two guys got on, Boston brought in a new pitcher (Rob Murphy) and I think it was his very first pitch... McGwire crushes the ball -- LONG homerun, but we weren't sure from our vantage if it was fair or foul... Well, it landed well fair bouncing in a wide staircase area where no one was sitting. I wished I could get down there to get the ball. Turned out to be McGwire's 30th homerun for his first four years, an MLB record. Despite being a huge Expos fan, this is probably the most historic baseball game I have ever attended. What an amazing, exciting, dramatic finish!!
