Death Toll From Australia Flooding Hits Four
The number of people killed in major flooding across the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland has risen to at least four on Saturday while tens of thousands of people were stranded by floodwaters after the remnants of a powerful cyclone Debbie hit the country. Police have confirmed the death of two women and one man in New South Wales while another 77-year-old man in Queensland. The Bureau of Meteorology said six large rivers had reached major flood levels and were still rising in several areas. Hence, authorities have ordered further evacuations and warned local residents to remain vigilant. So far, emergency officials have rescued more than 400 people from floodwaters.
