This comes after American and Russian delegations met in Riyadh yesterday for Ukraine peace talks, that too, without Kyiv. Trump also said that Kyiv could have avoided the war altogether by signing a deal with Moscow. He also wants war-torn Ukraine to hold elections. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has already expressed his disappointment over not being invited to the peace talks, hit back at Trump's remarks by saying that he is living in a "disinformation bubble". The war in Ukraine, which had initially presented Zelensky as an admirable leader in front of the world, may now be the cause of his downfall. Zelensky's sinking popularity back at home has put him on shaky ground. Moreover, if Washington and Moscow broker a peace deal, which is likely to include territorial concessions, Zelensky will be faced with a tough choice.
