Mummy Traverse // Rocky Mountain National Park

Mummy Traverse // Rocky Mountain National Park

Out on the northern edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, The Mummy Range is an isolated group of high peaks that can be combined in a single day push known alternatively as the Mummy Traverse, Mummy Marathon, or Mummy Kill Route. After first researching the route years ago, I finally gave it a shot on this clear September day. The ridge was mostly class 2, with some steeper terrain around Hagues Peak that got into class 3. After a full day of hiking, I grabbed my bike from the lower trailhead and rode it uphill to my starting point. This strategy was as exhausting as it was satisfying, capping off an enjoyable fall day in a quiet corner of the mountains.
