Pastor Shari’s message centers on Jesus’ parable of the great dinner in Luke 14 and reframes Ash Wednesday not simply as a night about repentance, but as a night about invitation. Again and again, God calls, welcomes, reaches, and makes room. Even when people make excuses, turn away, or feel unworthy, God’s response is still abundance, mercy, and a place at the table. This sermon speaks directly to anyone who has ever felt too far gone, too uncertain, too burdened, or too broken to belong. This service also marks the beginning of our Lenten theme, “Tell Me Something Good,” as we seek to ground ourselves in the good news of Jesus in a world that often feels full of fear, cruelty, and loss. Through song, scripture, ashes, and sacrament, we are reminded that God’s love is surprising, God’s grace is persistent, and there is still room at the feast. In this worship service: Psalm 40 Luke 14:15-24 Imposition of ashes Holy Communion A Lenten invitation to repentance, hope, and renewed trust in God’s mercy No matter how many times we lose our way, decline the invitation, or doubt our worth, the gospel says the same thing: there is and always will be a seat saved for you.
