Padua "AFTER THIS MANNER PRAY YE" Matthew 6:5-15 Theme: If we ask anything according to HIS will, HE heareth us. Intro: The HOLY GHOST teaches all things & guides you unto all truths in prayer. (Jn. 14:26; 16:13) I. THE WISDOM IN PRAYER. v5-8 1. Pray not to be seen of men. v5 Gal. 1:10 2. Pray to the FATHER that seeth in secret. v6 — Go for closet prayers. (Rom. 3:22; Gal 2:16,20; 3:22) 3. Pray not as heathen who prays repetitiously. v7 4. Pray knowing that your FATHER in heaven sees your needs. v8 • See also v32 II. THE PATTERN IN PRAYER. v9,10 *After this manner pray ye. 1. Pray as an adopted child of GOD. v9 "Our FATHER which art in Heaven hallowed be thy name." (Jn. 1:29; Rom. 8:15) 2. Pray in total subjection to Kingdom Rule. v10a "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." — Let's try to dig deeper into this pattern in prayer. • Think of Adam & Eve. Gen. 3 (Eph. 5:17) • Think also of Abe & Sarah. Note: GOD's plan in heaven to be done in earth is immutable or unchangeable. "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven." III. THE REQUESTS IN PRAYER. v11 1. Let your requests be made known unto GOD. Phil. 4:6 2. All your needs are promised to be supplied by GOD through JESUS CHRIST. Phil. 4:19 3. It must be ASKED according to HIS will. 1 Jn. 5:14,15; Jn. 14:13,14 4. For HIS Glory. Jn. 7:18; Eph. 3:21 For HIS Pleasure. Rev. 4:11 For HIS Will. Col. 1:16 5. The LORD's promise to active missions partners. 2 Cor. 8:1-5; Phil. 4:19 6. By the Grace & Mercies of GOD avoid being trapped into the Devil's seemeth right. Prov. 14:12; 16:25 You have conscience to deal with you. You have the HOLY SPIRIT to guide you. You have the Bible to confirm & assure you. Keep your hearts in the Love of GOD.
