Brothers and sisters, 31b if God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies them. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Responsorial Psalm 108 Gospel (Luke 13:31-35) Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men! Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke. Glory to you, Lord. 31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “You must leave here, because Herod wants to kill you.” 32 Jesus said, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will drive out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will finish my work.’ 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, for it is not fitting that a prophet should die outside of Jerusalem. 34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 35 Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’” — The Gospel of the Lord. — Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
