Not Working: iMac Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 - Samsung T7 SSD

Trying to use a Samsung T7 SSD with a older iMac that has thunderbolt 1 thunderbolt 2 ports. The adapter is not adequate to make the translation to the USB 3.1 GEN 2 standard therefore the SSD is not recognized by the older iMac using the thunderbolt 1 or thunderbolt 2 port.
