John 1:6-13 (The Baptist & the Light) #14
At first it seems surprising that in these crucial early verses in which such important ideas are introduced we have three verses about the man we call John the Baptist. But he is presented here not as one who baptizes, but as one who gives a testimony. That makes a lot of sense, because testimony or witness is a very important idea in this Gospel. And of Whom does he testify? The One who is the Light - rejected by many, believed on by a few (who are the children of God).
