Decree to rebuild Jerusalem / The Gap Between the 69th & 70th Week (The Church Age)

These 70 weeks of Daniel, explains the Global events which started from The DECREE to rebuild Jerusalem Made by Artaxerxes (458 BC) - Ezra 7:13 (or read from Ezra 7:11-26). The Gap Between 69th & 70th Week is known as the Church Age / The Period of Grace. An understanding of Daniel 9:24-27 is necessary in order to understand the purpose and Time of Tribulation. This passage in Daniel speaks of 70 weeks that have been declared against “your people.” Daniel's people are the Jews, the Nation of Israel. It is important to understand that when the Hebrew word (heptad) translated as a week in Daniel 9:24-27 literally means “7” and 70 weeks literally means 70 sevens (70 times 7). This time period of which God speaks of is actually 70 sevens of years (i.e. 70 years x 7 years) or 490 years. This is confirmed by another part of this passage in Daniel chapter 9, in verses 25 & 26. Daniel is told that the Messiah will be cut off “7 weeks and 62 weeks” (i.e. 69 weeks) beginning with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. In other words, 69 sevens of years (483 years) after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, the Messiah will be cut off. Biblical historians confirm that 483 years passed from the time of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the time when Jesus was crucified. With 483 years having passed from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the cutting off of the Messiah, this leaves one seven (7 years) to be fulfilled now in terms of Daniel 9:24: 1. To finish their rebellion. 2.To put an end to their sin. 3.To atone for their guilt. 4. To bring in the everlasting righteousness. 5. To confirm the prophetic vision and 6. To anoint the Most Holy Place. This final 7-year period is known as the Tribulation Period. It is a time of God's final judgment of Israel for their sin. Daniel 9:27 gives a few highlights of the 7-year Tribulation Period by saying: “The ruler will make a treaty (covenant) with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.” The person of whom this verse speaks is the person Jesus calls the “sacrilegious object that causes desecration” (see Matthew 24:15) and is called the BEAST in Revelation 13. Daniel 9:27 says that the beast will make a covenant for one week (7 years). But in the middle of this week (3½ years) into Tribulation Period, he will break the treaty/covenant, putting a stop to burnt sacrifice and grain offering. Revelation 13 explains that the beast will place his image in the temple and will require the world to worship him. Verse 5 of Revelation 13 says that this will go on for 42 months, i.e. 3½ years.
