Shaft (2019) - Movie Review [See Literally Anything Else]

"I can't have you walking around out there besmirching my name." - Someone deep into the process of besmirching their own name. This week’s video is all about SHAFT! In preparation for the release of Tim Story’s 2019 version of Shaft, Dom revisited all the prior Shaft material he could get his hands on, hoping to make a video about the history of the character, what he means to popular culture and why in today’s climate he could be a relevant action hero for our time. But then Dom actually saw Tim Story’s 2019 version of Shaft. And it’s awful. So, instead this becomes something of an extended rant about how bad a movie the new Shaft is and questioning why it was even made. It’s the least enjoyable Samuel L. Jackson has been on screen in perhaps his entire career and it’s a grotesque waste of an otherwise beloved genre character. What makes it so bad, you ask? Well, strap in for Dom’s play by play.
