Acupressure - Pharmacist Ben Fuchs - Moment of Truth
Acupuncture, based on the idea that biological electricity flows along pathways called meridians, has been successfully used for millennia to treat illness, reduce pain and improve quality of life. If you want to try acupuncture, but the thought of being poked with pins makes you queasy, you might want to experiment with acupressure, which can be just as effective as acupuncture, but without the needles. Acupressure is simple to perform. All you need to do is firmly, but gently, press a Meridian or pressure point, using your thumb or finger, for five to ten seconds. Repeat three or four times, then do the same thing on the corresponding point on the opposite side of your body. Some meridian targets for acupressure therapy include pressure points between your big and second toes, which can relieve anxiety. The point between the vertebra behind the neck and the top of the shoulders can relieve tension in the back. And try applying pressure to the webbed area between your pointing finger and thumb to relieve hangover discomfort and nausea.
