It's perfect for a comforting, protein-rich dinner. Ingredients For the Beans: 2 cup red chawli (black-eyed beans), soaked overnight or for 6-8 hours 8 cups water (for boiling) 3/4 tablespoon red chilli powder 1 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste For the Tarka (Tempering): 3/4 cup of oil 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 4-5 chopped green chilli For Garnishing: Fresh coriander leaves Chopped onion Chopped green chillies Instructions Step 1: Cook the Beans 1. Rinse the beans 1-2 times, So the dirt can be removed. 2. Add the soaked beans along with the soaked water. 2. Cook for 45-50 minutes with 8 cups of water, salt, red chilli powder, and turmeric powder. If you are using a pressure cooker, cook for 3-4 whistles or 10-12 minutes (or until soft but not mushy). 3. Reserve the cooked chawli along with its cooking liquid. Step 2: Tarka (Tempering) 1. Heat oil in a deep pan. 2. Add sliced onion, cumin seeds, chopped green chilli. 3. Let them crackle and nice golden brown to the onions. 4. Pour this tempering over the prepared boiled beans.. Step 5: Final Touch 1.
