From the Dan Acosta Birthday Bash 2016, at Bartini Bar (Babylon, NY). This song is dedicated to my grandparents, Percy & Marchie Gallagher, and my Uncle Vernon Allen. Back in '98, my grandmother passed on my birthday. My last conversation with her was about her coming home from the hospital & making me a birthday cake, like she did every year. We joked around about it & I told her I wasn't having one until she made it. I never got that cake. Fast forward to her funeral. It started raining as we were leaving the cemetery, but my mother, my ex-wife, and I decided to wait in the car until they lowered her coffin into the ground. As we waited & watched, this song came on the radio. It was the perfect fit to what we were feeling. Now, I make it a point to perform this song at all my birthday gigs in not only her honor, but for my grandfather & Uncle as well.
