Human Physiology Lecture for Fri (1/21/22)

In this last part of Ch 2 part 1 (metabolism) I discuss the making of lipids (stored fat known as triglycerides) from glucose (known as lipogenesis). I then cover the breakdown of lipids for energy when carbohydrates are not available, a process called lipolysis. Triglycerides can broken down into ketones and fatty acids - both of which can cause a drop in blood pH called metabolic acidosis. Finally I discuss amino acid metabolism by the liver.
