Slightly different version. A disciple asked his guru to explain maya (illusion). That's when the guru ask him for a glass of water. He went to the village, fell in love, married and had a few children. He totally forgot about his guru and got lost in the worldly life. Flood came. He lost all his love ones in the flood. He then remembered his guru. And went back with a glass of water. The guru replied you wanted to know what is maya. Now you know.
